| Refining the neck in 3D Studio MAX ( 3ds max ) - Tutorial / Lesson |
Our model / character's neck is almost flat now. Let's make it more rounded and real in 3D Studio MAX ( 3ds max ). With the vertex mode selected in the Modifier Panel, select the vertices shown in the figures and move them so that the neck takes a better form. |

You may need to adjust the position of the adjacent vertices also, so that the lines connecting the vertices remains smooth. Otherwise, bumps will arise in your model / character. Also make the neck vertices (except those vertices that makes a L shaped bent at the corners) smoothed. |
If you look carefully, you can see that the front region of the model / character's neck seems very flat. It is because, it lacks a line segment in the front. Refine the vertices and connect line as shown in the figure.
Select those vertices and smooth them.

Now you can see, that a small problem has arised. The triangule formed is causing unwanted bump in the model / character. In the modify panel, in the modifier stack of Line, instead of Vertex, choose Segment. Now click on the segment shown in the figure and press Delete.
