This is a very valid question, if we think based on what we see around. I look at brain as nothing but a device used for simulating a specific set of characteristics. It is much similar to constructing a robot. To instill a particular behaviour in a robot, we code in the algorithm and get it executed on a processor that is embedded in the robot. Does it mean that a cat would need an algorithm and a processor to catch a rat? No. Why? It is simply because a cat’s behaviour implementation depends completely on its brain.

A brain is nothing but a device that simulates a being’s existence which we call by the name ‘its mind’. Within the boundaries of this mortal world, we need a processor to create artificial intelligence. Similarly man’s brain is nothing but a device crafted to run a simulation belonging to this world. Outside the limits of this world, I believe that any form of existence has its own behaviour, just like the properties of light and heat. God’s nature of creation and maintenance is something vaguely comparable to the properties of light and heat.

How can god exist without a beginning and an end?

Many atheists argue that god should also have a beginning and an end, though some agree that nothing has a beginning and an end. We define the term beginning and end itself on the basis of relativity. Once we start thinking in broader terms, we can understand that nothing really begins or ends. The person called YOU is constantly on a change, with millions of cells dying each day and new ones sprouting up alongside. Matter goes in and out of an entity called You. The food that you eat, gets turned into your body and the body itself detoriorates with time just like a radioactive elements’ decaying with half-life. The ‘real’ You is more than a physical being.

If you think in the sub-atomic levels, everything exists for ever. Only when we try to think in terms of our planet and the laws of physics governing it, we start thinking in way too simpler terms so that our thoughts gets much farther from reality.
